Hannover, Germany hosts
1st World Team Championship for pool billiards

From January 30th to February 7th 2010, the attention of billiard fans from across the globe will be riveted on the Hannover exhibition center where, for the first time ever, the international World Team Championship in billiards will be staged. More than 250 of the world’s leading professional pool billiard players from around 50 different nations will compete in Hall 25 for a total of 400,000 dollars in prize money. Running concurrently with ABF, Germany’s biggest recreation and shopping exhibition, the competition will feature a total of 32 billiard tables, plus indoor bleachers with space for around 3,500 spectators. Contestants include Ralf “The Kaiser” Souquet, Oliver “The Machine” Ortmann, Thorsten “The Hitman” Hohmann. Johnny “The Scorpion” Archer and Shane van Boening, alias “The South Dakota Kid”. The tournament will be accompanied by a trade fair featuring the latest billiard trends and innovations. Serving as patron of the World Championship is Stephan Weil, Lord Mayor of the City of Hannover.
