Jakob Gerhardt
Converting farmland into vineyard land was subject to strict Electoral Palatinate regulations. Johann Peter Gerhardt also had to observe this when, according to the official deed, he acquired another 4 vineyards in addition to his ownership of vineyards in 1751. Since that time, the sons of the following 7 generations have continued to optimise viticulture, cooperage, distribution and, above all, the qualities in the art of wine making. As early as the 1920s, the "old man" Jakob Gerhardt sent trade travellers all over Germany to make his wine known beyond the borders of the Rhineland.
In 1987, Max Dieter Altmann acquired the company with the aim of successfully continuing this winery, which had grown over centuries, as a family business in the future. Thus, the name Jakob Gerhardt has also been preserved with the change of the owner family and is today led into the future under the expert direction of the managing director Pierre Boos.
