Hannover. A lively atmosphere, a joyful shopping spree and, for the finale, a choir of visitors with a powerful voice. infa, Germany's largest shopping and experience fair, came to a successful close on Sunday, 22 October. A total of over 110,000 visitors came to the fairgrounds in Hanover over the course of nine days to find out about trends and innovations from over 770 exhibitors and to shop to their hearts' content. This means that the organisers' goal of achieving a six-figure visitor figure was achieved.
Not only Deutsche Messe AG as organiser, but also 90.1 percent of the visitors were satisfied with this year's infa visit. A year ago it was only 79 percent, according to the results of the independent market research institute Gelszus from Dortmund. Almost 91,8 percent want to come back next year (last year: 87.9 percent), and 91.9 percent will recommend infa to others (last year: 83.1 percent).
Compared to 2022, buying and ordering activity has dropped slightly. While 83 percent bought something last year, this year it was 80.1 percent. The average purchase amount was slightly higher this year at 478.40 euros compared to 468.90 euros in 2022.
Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Messe AG: "A great success and a confirmation of the excellent work of the infa team. The increased number of visitors and exhibitors underlines the importance of public trade fairs and makes it clear how attractive the event is for regional, national and even international companies."
This is also confirmed by most of this year's exhibitors. Janine Kramer, Mrs. Twinkle: "infa with the Christmas Hall 'Christmas' is extremely important for me because it is the first Christmas fair of the year. I can observe very well here what people like, what they like to buy, which colours are in fashion. The infa is always a highlight and I will be back next year with a bigger stand."
Petra Stryjakowsi, KitchenAid: "At infa we have customer proximity and, thanks to the very good dealer Weitz, regionality. At infa we are very close to the customer."
And Frieder Schmidt, Ullman Wohnen & Betonen: "We've been at infa for around 27 years and only realised what infa means to us after Corona, where we all suffered quite a lot. A great audience in the LEBENSART hall with quality exhibitors. It's really fun to be here and we notice from the visitors' response that it's very well received again."
Highlights infa 2023
The highlights of this year's infa included the popular short events infalino and infa kreativ, as well as the classic car meeting on the first weekend, and the nine-day music and show programme, which had the motto "MUSIK VERBINDET" (Music connects) and ended on Sunday with a large choir performance consisting of visitors, staff and exhibitors on the open-air site.
Klaudia Kohl, infa project manager: "With our MUSIK VERBINDET programme, infa has become even more varied and even more of a real experience fair. My personal highlight was the German-Turkish friendship concert with Ayda Kirci, because it stands for cultural diversity and solidarity of all nations. And that is exactly what we stand for as a trade fair company."
For the first time this year, the homeless aid project "Die!!! Weihnachtsfeier" presented itself at infa for the first time. On all nine days of the trade fair, visitors had the opportunity to bid for items at various events. One of the highlights at the stand was the performance by Fury In The Slaughterhouse ("Time To Wonder"), who not only played music but also signed numerous devotional items and gave them away to fans in exchange for donations. In total, the stand at the "Die!!! Weihnachtsfeier" stand raised more than 9,000 euros, all of which will go to the project.
The result of this year's infa clearly shows that both exhibitors and visitors are convinced of the trade fair as a product. infa boss Klaudia Kohl: "Despite the still difficult times, we are once again on the road to success and I am convinced that we will reach even more stakeholders next year. In any case, I'm already looking forward to the upcoming 70th infa.”
The next infa will take place from October 12 - 20, 2024.
